CVA and PV put call out for voluntourists

Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) and Parks Victoria are, for a second year, partnering to repair and restore remote sections of the 650km Australian Alps Walking Track in the Alpine National Park.
Known as the toughest long distance walk in Australia, the track traverses the Australian Alps, which is an iconic conservation and tourism destination.

Parks Victoria, Museum Victoria and 4WD Victoria have completed one of the most comprehensive wildlife, geology and palaeontology surveys ever conducted in the Eastern area of the Alpine National Park.
Over two weeks, the 100+ member team of researchers, park rangers and 4WD Victoria volunteers descended on the Park, focusing on a wide range of habitats including sphagnum moss bogs and streams, alpine meadows and grasslands, snow gum forests, boulder fields, limestone caves, rivers and adjacent riparian zones, rocky knolls and mixed eucalypt woodlands.

Loo with a View officially opened at Macalister Springs

The ‘Loo with a view” located at Macalister Springs in the Alpine National Parks was officially opened today.
The ‘Loo with a view’ replaces the old amenity that had begun to deteriorate and required significant maintenance. It is located next to the Vallejo Gantner Memorial Hut which is a popular spot for hikers located within the Alpine National Park.
